Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Somnus Studio ("we", "us", "our"), a trade name of Tayf Al-Khayal for Digital Solutions, a company registered in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile game Strata (the "App").

By using Strata, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you choose to participate in our online leaderboard, you may provide:

  • Display name (up to 12 characters, of your own choosing)

  • Country (selected from a list of countries; we do not collect precise location)

This information is optional. You can play the entire game without providing it.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous user identifier: We generate a random, anonymous identifier through Firebase Authentication so the leaderboard can recognize your device across sessions. This identifier is not linked to your real name, email, or any personally identifying information.

  • Game scores: When you submit a score to the leaderboard, your score and the time of submission are stored.

  • Advertising identifiers (via Google AdMob): If you have not opted out, our advertising provider collects standard mobile advertising identifiers (such as your Advertising ID), IP address, and basic device and connection information for the purpose of serving and measuring ads. See Section 4 for details.

1.3 Information Stored Only on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device using localStorage and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • Game settings (theme preference, sound on/off, vibration on/off)

  • Local high score and gameplay statistics (games played, perfect drops, longest streak, etc.)

  • "Remove Ads" purchase status

You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's storage in your device settings.

2. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Display the global, country-based, weekly tournament, and nations leaderboards

  • Allow you to identify yourself on the leaderboard by your chosen name and country

  • Serve advertisements through Google AdMob (unless you have purchased the ad-free version)

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the App

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the gameplay experience.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR, Jordan PDPL)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, we process your data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for advertising identifiers and personalized ads (you may withdraw consent at any time through your device settings)

  • Performance of our service — for storing your leaderboard score

  • Legitimate interests — for operating and maintaining the leaderboard service

4. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

4.1 Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore)

We use Firebase, a service provided by Google LLC, to handle anonymous authentication and to store leaderboard scores. Firebase may process data in countries outside Jordan, including the United States.

4.2 Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display banner, interstitial, and rewarded video advertisements. AdMob collects information including your device's Advertising ID, IP address, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads.

You can opt out of personalized advertising:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" or deny tracking when prompted

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization"

4.3 No Other Third Parties

We do not use any analytics, crash reporting, social media, or marketing SDKs.

5. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, request, or have access to:

  • Your real name, email address, phone number, or postal address

  • Your precise geographic location (no GPS or Wi-Fi-based location)

  • Your contacts, photos, files, calendar, microphone, or camera

  • Any health, financial, or biometric data

  • Any payment information (Apple App Store and Google Play handle all transactions; we never see your card)

6. Children's Privacy

Strata is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at contact@somnusstudio.com and we will promptly delete it.

In compliance with Google Play Families policy, our advertising provider (AdMob) is configured to apply additional restrictions on ads shown to users who indicate they are under the age of consent.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, the State of California, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")

  • Object to or restrict processing

  • Withdraw consent at any time

  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights — including deleting your leaderboard entry — please email contact@somnusstudio.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days. Because our identifiers are anonymous, you may need to provide the approximate time and country of your leaderboard entry to help us locate it.

8. Data Retention

  • Leaderboard entries: Retained indefinitely while the App and leaderboard service are operational, unless you request deletion.

  • Weekly tournament scores: Retained for the duration of the tournament week and may be archived afterward for historical purposes.

  • Local data: Persists on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data.

9. Data Security

We rely on the security infrastructure of Google Firebase, which provides industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to leaderboard data is governed by Firestore Security Rules that prevent any user from modifying another user's data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Because our leaderboard runs on Google Firebase, your data may be processed in data centers located in countries outside Jordan, including the United States and the European Union. Google Firebase complies with applicable data transfer mechanisms, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where relevant.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the App or the website where this policy is hosted. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
